Cindy Kirk learned the value of having an active imagination at an early age. If she didn t like the ending of a television show or movie, she simply thought of a different one. Or if she had difficulty falling asleep, instead of counting sheep, she made up a story. When she was sixteen she penned these words in her diary: "I don t know what I would do if I couldn t be a writer."

But it would be several decades before her dream would become a reality. Now a wife and mother, Cindy is a writer of contemporary sensual romance.

Sweet and loving

I enjoyed this story, I thought it was sweet and loving. I thought the author wrote terrific characters. I loved Eli, he took to being a father perfectly, he's sweet, sexy, and a bit smitten with Callie and he's a doctor..lol.... Callie is sweet and loving but she can't let go of the past, with her father or Eli. I thought Callie and Eli were perfect for each other and I'm glad Eli wore her down and taught her they were meant to be. I loved Amity, she funny and quirky and sweet. Love lil Lucy too. Over all I thought the story was sweet, loving and cute all in one. I'm not a fan of cheating stories (not Eli) so that part a little overdone for me but the lesson for Callie was forgiveness. So I liked the underlying lessened learned about letting the past go and forgiveness. 4 - 4.5 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com

I couldn't like the book. The h jumped to conclusions at the drop of a hat and made a mockery of her "Christian" upbringing. She cast a few stones without cause and was an idiot.

Callow has known Eli since high school. She at one time thought he liked her back. But distances and a lie ended their growing romance. Now ten years later he is back to work with his dad. She is a school teacher. He finds a baby on his doorstep, with a note that she, the baby, is his. He asks her for help. I have read other books by Cindy Kirk and enjoyed reading them. This is another book to add to the collection.

About the Author
Stanley G. Prussin received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan in 1964. After doing postdoctoral research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 1964 to 1966, he accepted a post at the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley, where he still teaches in the position of a Professor of Graduate Studies. Professor Prussin is a member of the American Nuclear Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His areas of teaching expertise are low-energy nuclear physics, nuclear- and radiochemistry and applications, radiation protection and control, nuclear chemical engineering, and nuclear instrumentation.

missing the objective

I have many books on the subject and I was expecting a fresh view from the applications point of view, however the book is not really intended for applications, it is more devoted to give you some general aspects of theoretical nuclear physics, and eventually, within the problemas at the end of each chapter, you may have to enter into one application by yourself.
The author gives a reasonable theoretical analysis but not better than conventional books on the subject do. If you want to get the feeling of application you can go for Krane's book on Introductory Nuclear Physics, and if you realy want a fresh view of the subject, including modern applications, go for Fundamentals in Nuclear Physics by L.L. Basdevant et. al.
I wonder why the book was not called just "Model Approach to Nuclear Physics", not mentioning any intended applications since there are not many worked out examples on the text, I mean with experimental details like detectors, targetry, expected cross sections and counting rates, efficiencies and so on.
I emphasizes that my low score is not related with the theory which still, I believe is not better than many other conventional books, but on the misleading word Applications in the title relative to the real contents. So the small letters from the title "A Model Approach" should be big size and "Applications" in smaller size.

I did not use this book for a class, ...

I did not use this book for a class, but as one of several references while writing my doctoral dissertation. Several sections were more clearly written than other books. In particular, Dr. Prussin explains gamma-ray interactions very clearly and precisely, including for example why the cross section for photoelectric absorption scales so strongly with Z and, similarly, why the photoelectric interaction favors more tightly bound atomic electrons. I have not gone through the whole book but Dr. Prussin definitely knows what he's talking about.

Great for Stein Collectors and Appraisals

While not the 'be-all-end-all' of beer stein books, it's a great primer on collecting and appraising steins of all makes and styles. The contents go into the history, styles, makes, uses, and expected values. Of special interest are the makers marks (usually found on the bottoms of steins); the authors describe how to decipher the maker, mold number, and year produced. There is an interior section of select color illustrations and values. Over all most photos are black and white. You may not find "your special" stein within the pages, you may find very similar makes/types and even be able to decipher Who/Where/& When made. While not necessarily a "page-turner", the index, glossary, and illustrations will help any joe-average collector become a relic hunter in no time fast.

Satisfactory book

I found this book on several beer-related websites so I thought it would be great. The book is hard-back which is great and it looks impressive. It's almost like a reference book. It is VERY detailed and traces back through lengthy history of Steins. I bought it for a person who loves history and information about other countries-and foreign beer. There are many pictures in the book but they are all black-and-white. I wish they would have been in color.

Comprehensive resource for the antique stein collector. Only one chapter for contemporary stein collecting (i.e. Anheuser-Busch, Miller, Shultz & Dooley, etc.).

A Monumental Important Cookbook!

This cookbook is an education unto itself. If you want to learn about foods that will benefit your health and fitness, then buy this book. The mark of a truly good person is someone who imparts a wisdom in you that you were never aware of. The author, Julie Morris, is an extremely knowledgable and creative food mastermind. Couple this book with her Superfood Smoothies book and you'll have a new path to your own well-being. Brilliant and beautiful book!

Great Healthy Recipes

The author is really great at introducing a very healthy lifestyle with recipes that feature foods filled with Omega-3s, Omega-6s and Omega-9s. the recipes are flavorful and tasty. Some are easier to make than others. Some ingredients can be expensive but it just means that you may have to hunt for more reasonably priced suppliers but the author provides a list of suppliers for some of the ingredients in her recipes. If you are looking for recipes that will provide you with energy and benefit your body from your skin to your hair to your nails, as well as your internal parts then this recipe book should be on your shelf. These recipes are built with very solid and extremely healthy ingredients. If you are looking to improve the quality of your health and if you are looking for energy then this book is for you.

Big fan of Julie's

This was my first Julie Morris book, but I will get them all. Her recipes are creative and very tasty. The book I keep front and center in my kitchen is her Superfood Juice, as I am an avid juicer. Superfood Kitchen fills a hole in kitchens today because it combines healthy and quick. When I get home from work, I am just "done". It is hard to think creatively nor do I want to spend a lot of time preparing. Great book.

After WWII the existing railway companies were all put into the control of the newly formed British Transport Commission and that government organization spawned British Railways, which came into being on 1st January 1948. The railway infrastructure had suffered badly during the war years and most of the steam locomotives were 'tired' and badly maintained and or life expired. Although the management of British Railways was already planning to replace steam power with diesel and electric engines/units they still took a decision to build more steam locomotives (as a stop gap).

Some 999 (yes just 1 short) Standard locomotives were built in 12 classes ranging from super powerful express and freight engine to suburban tank locomotives. The locomotives were mainly in good order when the order came in 1968 to end steam, some only 8 years old.

There still exists a fleet of 46 preserved Standards of which 75% are in working order in and around the UKs preserved railways, furthermore 3 new build standard locomotives are proposed. Steam fans who were around in the 1960s all remember the 'Standards'.

Here Keith Langston Presents a 'potted history' of the different British Railways Standard classes, plus the Riddles 'Dub Deed', Providing a welcome reference work for those looking for an up-to-date picture. For what this book does succinctly is to show both the BD scene and the post-preservation era. Many reference books will give chapter and verse on the BR days and then just inform us weather a locomotive has been preserved or scrapped. For some locomotives there is - fortunately - more of a story to be told. After examining the work of Riddles and the Standard Design Group, a chapter is allocated to each class. In the case of the 'Britannias' and 'Clans', details and at least one photograph of each class member are included.
