Finance for Real Estate Development is a well written primer for people interested in attaining a working understanding of the subject. The graphics clearly illustrate the concepts they support without leaning on technicolor entertainment images. This is not a book that dwells on the esoteric details or shows every permutation of how a deal might be modelled and underwritten. It will give the thoughtful reader the language and skills to build or navigate a pro forma, assess opportunities, and think critically about project proposals they encounter.
The bottom line is: if you want to learn the core concepts of how real estate capital works and don't want to wade through a 500 page high gloss paper textbook that costs hundreds of dollars and has a fancy DVD insert you won't use, this is your book.
