Math Text for Trade Schools

This book came up during a search for Sheet Metal techniques and practice. However, the contents are really basic level high school math with sheet metal based examples wherever that is appropriate. The figure on the cover has almost nothing to do with the book. The math is OK as far as it goes -- High school algebra 1 plus a small smattering of geometry and trig. The sort of math that is needed by those working on the shop floor with sheet metal. So if you dropped out of high school to go to work in construction and sheet metal is your trade, this is the book for you. If you are looking for sheet metal design, layout or fabrication, look elsewhere.

Better than IFSTA.

I bought the book to study for a specific employment exam. I found it to be much better written and organized than the IFSTA manual. My only complaint is that there is not a specific study guide or cd/dvd companion. The study guide they associate with the manual is actually for their "Essentials" book, which does not include the chapters on emergency response/haz-mat/WMD, etc. If it had these companions, I would rate 5-star. It is still the best text available and is good for even an experienced firefighter.

Sheet metal for mechanics and practical applications

This book covers the math needed for sheet metal fabrication. It seems written toward HVAC and construction trades, but is useful for basic aviation sheet metal. It recieved 4 stars because it takes the complexity out of the math and can be accessible to someone with at least high school math.

Early sections cover basics like calculating number of sheets required for a pattern, basic shop math such as working with fractions and decimals. The math advances to the practical parts such as geometry and trigonometry. Basically, it's applied math needed to get the job done. The book present basic scenarios, and walks you through the calculations.

If your into engineering, this book is not for you. The only thing I would add would be tables for quick reference to calculate bend allowance, minimum bend radii for mild steel and alumuinum alloys (0.250 and thinner).

From a supervisor view, it's good material to give to trainees so they don't waste your time with basic questions or as an evaluation of basic skills. If you use a bar folder, cornice brake, simple hand forming, or slip roll former this book is for you. If you use any CNC machinery or press brake, this book is for trainees with no background or training.

One of my favorite places to eat on the Big Island is Island Natural's Market and Deli. It offers a wonderful, wide variety of foods from vegan, vegetarian and entrees for meat-lovers, too! Now they have a fabulous cookbook that includes so many delicious recipes that I can now make at home. The cookbook index makes it easy to find vegan recipes and is simple to use. Many feature delicious fresh Hawaiian ingredients. This cookbook will definitely help me to start the New Year eating healthy and delicious foods! Spreading the Island Naturals Love Around the World

I was lucky enough to work next door to Island Naturals in Hilo, Hawaii and ate lunch there everyday. The food was delicious, nutritious and made with really fresh and healthy ingredients. I've since moved and one of the things I miss the most is eating (and shopping) at Island Naturals. I just received my cookbook and it is well written, easy to follow and everything I've made so far has tasted just like it did at Island Naturals. Even if you've never been lucky enough to visit any of the Island Naturals stores, pick up a copy and it will be just like being there.

Comparing sizes- leather bound and paper back.

This review is primarily to give a feedback on the sizes of leather bound and paperback printed books. I initially bought leather bound books. They were really pretty and paper quality was very good. But the down side is they are really small books. So I got the paperback edition books. These books are bigger than leather bound and easy to read. So it totally depends on the customer what size book you would like to buy. I attached a photo to compare. Hope this helps

Much better than 2014 calendar

[[VIDEOID:mo1D9ERAVBVY0BP]]This is the 2015 version of the Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) Calendar. I own the 2013 and 2014 calendars as well is much better than the 2014 one in my opinion. Art is very subjective so I will include a vid to show you exactly what you are getting. SPOILER NOTE: If you have not read through A Dance With Dragons (book 5) some of these titles/descriptions may contain mild spoilers

The pictures depicted are:
January - The Night's Watch
February - Sam & Gilly on the Cinnamon Wind
March - The Iron Islands (theon?)
April - Road to Kings Landing (just a bunch of swords intertwined)
May - Mother of Dragons (same as the cover art)
June - Riverrun
Centerfold - The artists sketchbook. Several rough sketches of characters
July - Forging of the Iron throne (Balerion breathing fire, blacksmiths creating throne)
August - Little Birds (Varys' spies)
September - Battle for the Wall (Stannis)
October - House of Black and White (Arya)
November - The Kings Hand (Tyrion naked lying with Shae)
December - North of the Wall (Direwolf killing a stag)

The sketchbook is the highlight for me and was a nice touch for the centerfold. The previous versions of the calendar just repeated a prior months artwork. Mother of Dragons is my favorite artwork in the calendar. I like the subjects depicted in Little birds and forging the iron throne. The lowlights for me are the road to kings landing and the kings hand. Road to kings landing is supposedly depicting many swords intertwined in battle but to me it just seems odd that so many swords could possibly in such a short space in an actual battle (no room to swing!). And I feel a bit weird about having a naked dwarf hanging from my wall. Other than that Donato Giancola did a superb job on the artwork.

Patrick Winsor writes in the gay romance and erotica genre. He believes in deep, intricate relationships and not fading to black when the scenes start to get hot. He draws inspiration from his personal experiences and fantasies as well as those others have shared with him. Growing up on a farm in the middle of nowhere, Patrick Winsor had little contact with other homosexuals. This was not my cup 'o tea

I have to admit that I have been struggling a bit with how to rate this. I enjoyed the blurb is something that is right up my alley: potential GFY, exploration of relationships, bromance. The seriocomic warning had me looking forward to a potentially fun book; I loved the way it was written. Unfortunately, I didn't love it and I found myself doing more cringing than blushing or laughing. The first sentence mentions "dark" sexual desires, this book is a bit more dark overall than I tend to prefer. There were definitely some erotic scenes in this book, but I found myself thinking "say wha?????????" rather than "wow that is hot".

Levi is just starting college, so I am guessing he is about 18. Young, but certainly not naive. He is a part of this brotherhood that is sounds like he has been a part of for a long time, so to think of what he was doing when he was underage just icks me out. Thankfully none of that was written on the page.

Jayden is Levi's roommate. He (in his mind) is straight and looking forward to losing his virginity to some hot girl he meets on campus. He is young and very naive. Without any previous inkling that he finds guys attractive, he all of a sudden finds Levi completely irresistible. They are having sex, bareback, and then involving 2 other guys in the shower within hours of meeting. And Levi was so "huge" and rough with no preparation so that it was painful. And Jayden had no problem with that as a virgin? I sat there saying OUCH. It was not sexy at all to me. And then they are saying I love you. After meeting just hours before. *shaking my head* And then to paraphrase: Levi says "come with me and join the family" and Jayden says "I have no clue what you are talking about, but anything for you because I love you". Yes, they are young. Young people do stupid things. But still. Ugh.

So we find out about Levi's "family" and there are more sexual activities that would make most people cringe. Yet Jayden is perfectly fine with all of it, even though he has no clue what he is fine with because he doesn't know what is going on. And the punishment that Levi gets?? Oh hell no. Nuh uh. Not even going to think about that again. I'm not a man, but I feel pain from that.

OK, so those were all personal thoughts about the content which didn't sit well with me. That is personal choice, and . For the actual book itself, it felt a bit rushed. Yes we got a whole "romance" (they meet, fall in love, and have challenges), yes it is not a really story (close to 100 pages), yet it all took place over maybe 3 days total? I don't understand anything about Levi and how/why he became a part of the family, or why Jayden is at college with only one bag and very few belongings, or what happens next. It didn't feel much like a romance book to me. It was more of an erotic story with a hit of possible romance.

It's probably more of a 2.5 star read for me, but of course there aren't half star ratings. So how do I rate it-do I round up or down? I can't say I really enjoyed it, but I can't say I hated it or that it was the worst thing I ever read.

Well written just didn't have IT for me

First, a quick apology for not completing the review in a timely manner...Sorry!

The book was written well and I enjoyed the story told. Honestly, there was something about the story that did not make it an awesome read. I have thought about it and still cannot come up with the reason my reading experience was not more than 3 stars.

The story started great and I was intrigued of where it would take me. It was a classic start college and discover yourself and fall in love and did have an unusual turn of events. The idea behind the group was great because it showed caring and safety within a community of sexually active young men. Maybe the picture it painted in my head threw the story out of focus for me. Even though I liked the idea behind this "family" of men and they respected the new loving relationship from the MCs, it felt like it cheapened their relationship. I would find my mind placing the relationship in the middle of just respected sex with the other family members. I really did get what [author:Patrick Winsor|14611951] was trying to portray but in my mind it messed with the flow. Like I said, I did enjoy the read and thank the author for giving us a story. The sexiness was at least a 7.5 and the characters were great. Don't ignore this book because it was not a raving review from my mindset; honestly, give it a go because it doesn't leave you questioning WTF did I just read.

Fun, quick read

The first part of the book was awesome! I liked the intro where we meet the two boys, and I wish there was more character development from there--Jayden seemed cool and mysterious, Levi was apparently very high-maintenance. What are their backgrounds, and how do they fit together? How do they get along? Anyway, they find out they are roommates, and Levi quickly develops a crush on Jayden. Jayden is seemingly straight. From here, it moves VERY quickly. Too quickly for my liking. Especially since Jayden is supposed to be coming to grips with the fact that he is gay... That doesn't seem like something you get through easily. Levi's mom was funny, although not quite believable (I guess moms like that exist, somewhere?)...

The second part of the book gets into the initiation into the Brotherhood. It was very intense, but I was okay with it. It made for an interesting story line, and also was a way of introducing secondary characters.

Overall, I thought the book was well written. I did get a bit confused at the end--it seemed like the names Jayden and Levi were switched in some places (like, it said "Jayden" but should have said "Levi"?). I would like to read more from this author!
